FAQs
I’ve never been to a Bat Mitzvah. What should I expect?
Welcome! A Bat Mitzvah is a joyful celebration of a young person’s commitment to Jewish life and tradition. The service includes prayers, music, and readings, followed by a celebration with family and friends. We hope you’ll feel comfortable and enjoy being part of this special day.
What should I wear?
For the morning service, we ask guests to wear attire appropriate for a religious service. Cocktail attire is requested for the evening reception.
What is an Oneg?
An Oneg is a traditional reception held after the service where guests gather to enjoy light refreshments, congratulate Bea, and celebrate together before the evening festivities.
Do I need to wear a kippah?
Kippot (yarmulkes) will be available at the synagogue for anyone who wishes to wear one. Whether or not to wear one is a personal choice.
Are children welcome at the service?
Yes! Children are welcome to attend the service and celebrate with our family. If your little one gets overwhelmed, there is a playground out back that they are welcome to play on (with adult supervision).
Will the service be easy to follow?
Yes! Prayer books will be provided, and the Rabbi will guide everyone through the service. Whether you’ve attended many Jewish services or this is your first, we hope you’ll feel comfortable and welcome.
What will the weather be like?
June in Napa is typically warm and sunny during the day, with cooler mornings and evenings. We recommend bringing a light jacket or wrap.
Are dietary accommodations available?
If you have dietary restrictions or food allergies, please let us know when you RSVP, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. The Oneg will be kosher-style with gluten-free options.
Is there a hotel block?

The closest airports are Sacramento (SMF), Oakland (OAK), San Francisco (SFO), and Santa Rosa (STS). Visit our Travel & Hotels page for more information.
What is the best way to get around Napa?
While downtown Napa is very walkable, we recommend having a car or using a rideshare service if you’re staying outside the downtown area.
